lost form data

You Don’t Know What You’re Missing

This is a bit of a rant but also a tip for you if you own a website.

Since i’m an online entrepreneur and web developer I spend A LOT of time online. This also means I also use the internet a lot when corresponding with other people and businesses. Something recently has kind of annoyed me and I want to make sure my annoyance does not happen to your or your online business.

What I’m talking about here is Lost opportunities or more like lost possibilities in contact lead.

As I’m starting off the year I’m putting things in place to increase my business which means I have questions for certain professionals. Certain areas I’d like to know more about so what I do? I visit their website look around see if hey have the info I want and if not I ask a question…

Well it turns out after several form submissions and several days of waiting I’ve yet to receive a response. <GRRR>

I know, I know, I could pick up the phone, which is what will probably happen if I want information from these individuals. (Or move on to someone else.)

I’m either thinking my form data is lost in cyber-space, their form doesn’t work, or they’re just not interested in my business.

This of course let me to this post…

Is your websites contact forms broke? are you loosing potential leads?

When was the last time you or better yet an assistant or friend filled out your online forms and let you know the results.

  • Did the form work?
  • Did they receive a thank you page?
  • How about an automated followup email or email series?
  • Did YOU receive their data request?

This process is something you should have checked a few times a year. Your thinking well I checked it when I set it up. (or did you?)

Did you take the advice of your web developer that it was working? Systems do break, software is updated or not updated and cause conflicts.

Isn’t it worth taking a moment every couple months to see if you are still getting the results you expect?

One missed client could cost you more than you think…
