Sorrowful Pride
If you’ve ever attended a funeral for a loved one or friend that has served in any branch of military then you’ve heard the lonesome sorrowful sound of the trumpeter respectfully playing taps for the fallen soldier.
I have experienced this for both family and friends and every time I hear it no matter the setting I think of each of those loved ones. I think of how they gave a piece or all of their life to serve in the Armed services. I also think about the sacrifices of not only them but their families while the two were separated while serving.
Even though the sound of the trumpet plays on in the hollow tune that carries far and lasts for ever in your mind you want to grieve for that family member or friend but remember that they served with pride and honor and would not want that tear shed but to be proud and respectful for them.
So with today being Memorial day I’m sure at some point through out the day I’m sure I’ll hear that trumpet cry out those notes and I’ll be thinking of those friends and family that are gone and be full of sorrowful pride for them and remember them and give thanks.
I’ll also be thinking of those brave men and women currently serving near and far, and their families as they are a part. I’m praying for their safety and a safe return.
Many blessings to you all on this Memorial Day!
