Are You Just Coasting?

So, we’re coming into the final stretch of the year and while some people coast into the end of the year, others are gearing up for the first of the year to hit the ground running.

What is keeping you from starting off the next year with a bang?

If you’ve not done it by now, chances are you are stuck somewhere. First you need to determine where you are stuck. Then find out the best place to get help. Chances are you have access to help already and are just not utilizing the resources you are already paying for.

How Do You Determine Where You Are Stuck In Your Business?

The best way to do this take out a sheet of paper or whatever method you prefer. Make a line down the middle. On the top of the left side put “Things I’m Doing”. At the top of the right column put “Things I’m Not Doing”. 

Set a timer for 10-minutes and then start writing the things you are currently doing. Don’t spend a lot of time on it just the things that come to mind. For example you could write Updating a product; writing a blog post; answering support tickets etc. 

Now reset your timer for 10-minutes and start on the other side and start jotting down the things you aren’t doing but know you should be or WANT to be doing. Examples could be improving your website; planning for a vacation; painting your office; testing your email sequence; finishing writing your book; design our book cover; etc. again don’t spend a lot of time on it just write down what comes to mind.

Okay, So here’s the easy part. Go down the list and circle the things you really don’t want to do. These things are probably things that are holding you up from doing the things you’d rather be doing and most likely can outsource. 

Next go through the list and highlight the things you’d like to get done but haven’t done because you are either unsure how to do it or just don’t know where to start. These are the things that you can also get some assistance with or even get an idea on how to start them by asking the right person.

Remember earlier we talked about finding the right places to get help? Well if you are in marketing group or have a mentor or coach that would be a good place to start. You probably have resources or training in that circle that you may not know you have. Such as a business or website critique or even possibly the option to send in a question about how to outsource one of the circled tasks you didn’t really want to be doing.

By getting the help you need our outsourcing you will soon find the time to do the things you really want to be doing on that right side of your column and even better you will get more things completed and be more successful than you thought possible.
