Know What’s Going On

Just a quick tip for you today. I think it’s a good idea to know what’s going on in your business but also what’s going on outside your business.

A cool free tool that I’ve been using for several years is called Google Alerts found at https://www.google.com/alert

This service allows me to put in a keyword or keywords and then notifies me if that keyword gets a hit in there search engine or news feeds.

Why would I want to do this?

For multiple reasons, one I can find out pretty quickly if me or my business is mentioned somewhere. It gives me the opportunity to fix a customer service issue or give a thanks to someone promoting one of my products, books or services.

I also use this for breaking news on technologies I like to keep up to date on as well. If you are in a certain industry it is good to get alerts in your inbox for that kind of information too.

As they say work smarter not harder.
