Time Tracking Shouldn’t Take Time

I can’t tell you the number of billable hours I’ve probably lost. WHY? Because time tracking has always been frustrating.

I’ve tried every service and method imaginable. Note cards, software, you name it. Nothing connected. I didn’t like the fact it took so many clicks to even start a timer. Or I’d start one and forget to stop it. OR I could only start one timer at a time.

Yeah. I’m a serial entrepreneur with ADHD (undiagnosed), but with the work I do, sometimes a project can be working in the background while I’m doing another task. Or, I could handle 20 projects in a day. Imagine if it took 5 minutes to start and stop a timer because all of the clicks were required. That’s 100 minutes.

I know that’s better than not tracking at all, and there is a cost for everything. But frustration sets in, and I’m off running my day and guessing at times spent at the end of the day or even the week.

That is, until I got frustrated enough to finally create a system that works for me. PushTimer.com has all of the features I need and nothing more. I add my clients and projects, Then when it’s time to start a project, I jot a note, select the client and the project I’m working on, and push the timer button. THAT’S IT!

When I have a timer running, the browser tab shows the current time of the running project. If I have multiple projects running, the browser tab says X timers running. This helps me visually keep track, and a reminder I have a timer going to help stay focused.

If I leave a timer running, I can stop it and edit the ending time. At least I had a timer running to track the start time. We’ve added a safeguard that a timer will auto-stop after 24 hours as well.

When I’m done, I simply click the stop button. I can then export my tracked time to a CSV spreadsheet to invoice my clients. Don’t have a way to invoice your customers. You can do that on the site as well with our simple Invoice generator. Upload your CSV file, fill in a few fields, and you can download a PDF of your invoice to email it right away.

No hassle, no mess.

I’m sure this system may not be for everyone, but if you are a business owner running your own business, you can’t afford to miss out on billable hours, and you definitely don’t have time to waste.
