AI Sucks! Or Does it?

Okay, I knew this day would come. As they say, the writing is on the wall. I’m now facing AI Blues. I lost my first client-based project to AI today.

I don’t blame the client or AI. I can’t work as fast, and the client was able to prompt it the way he wanted from training he took. So kudos to him. I’m happy he got the desired results.

Not a fan of how it made me feel, that I could be replaced with a $ 20-a-month service. But every learning experience isn’t always pain-free and fun.

What can I learn from this?

AI Sucker Punch

How can I grow my business regardless of this situation? How can I spin this into a positive? I know others will and are doing the same. And I while I feel this client/friend he is ahead of the game, more and more people will be doing the same in the very near future.

I’m not a fan of this word I’m about to use, and I’m surprised I’m even going to say it. How can I PIVOT and take advantage of this situation?

There are plenty of business owners, Authors, speakers, etcetra, that won’t, go to, or get to, this level of AI usage. Whether they are technophobes, resist the technology, or are just too busy and have no desire to want to learn it.

What services can I still offer? One thought is to just continue to seek additional clients that need my help as it is? Do I expand into an idea that I was brainstorming about earlier this week?

If you know me, that happens a lot. (Ha, maybe let me brainstorm with you service!)

But this situation makes me very aware that I need to also be ahead of the game as I, too use, no… utilize AI to create content, applications, or improve services I already use. What’s my next promotion?

So, my initial thought was, bring me what AI made you, and let’s finish or implement it. I’ve already worked with authors and business owners to “polish” what AI “completed. It may be a book cover where the layout wasn’t just right, or didn’t meet the printer’s requirements. Or there was text generated in the image that needs to be modified. Not just book covers, but promotional, marketing pieces, advertising or social media graphics and so on.

I’ve also recently had a few clients generate a website, or “app,” and needed help getting it to their website or server to start using it. Yes, AI can do this, but many people are leary of giving an AI access to their computer and/or server and just saying/typing to the AI platform, “just take control of my systems and do it.”

Honestly, while working on an AI coding project myself (SupportDSK.com), the platform prompted me for access to a folder on my network. It was outside of the folder we had been working on. I FREAKED OUT! I literally told it NO and don’t do that again. I did not give you permission to access anything outside of this folder. Do NOT do that again. Now, at the back of my mind, I wonder: Is it still?

But back on topic.

While one service might be, bring me what AI made. Another service could be let me consult/coach with you to show you how and which services to use to put me out of work. No, seriously, show you which AI tools to use to handle things in your business.  It might be creating content, blog posts, or repurposing training information into different formats to reach different modalities of learners. Or even training materials to go along with your video modules. There is a lot of content that can be created from a video or an audio. Or maybe we even discuss HOW to use the AI platform.

AI is a wonderful and scary tool, but I also feel (At the moment) it still needs human interaction. It can only do what you instruct it todo. Yes, it can guess, and it can come close, but the things I have learned from this SupportDsk project I’ve been working on it can’t plan for what we humans expect. How we interact with software, or where we expect things to be. It can’t yet replace human creativity, desire, and passion.

Honestly, if you’ve read this far, I’d love to work with you on one of the above ideas. Or both if that suits your needs. Let’s talk. While it won’t be the $20 a month you’re paying your favorite AI service. I will make it worth both of our while as well as profitable for you. I’m even thinking about the possibility of a mastermind group to share and help each other grow through this. Let me hear from you. I’d love your ideas and suggestions. We both can potentially grow from this gut punch.

And just in case you are curious, I wrote this whole post without AI. The grammar probably proves it enough. LOL
